The Commissioner for Standards is an independent person appointed by the Northern Ireland Assembly. The Office of the Commissioner for Standards is currently vacant. All complaints received by the Commissioner’s office will be acknowledged and passed to the next Commissioner for Standards as soon as one is appointed by the Assembly.
The Commissioner’s Duties
The Northern Ireland Assembly Commissioner for Standards investigates complaints about the conduct of MLAs and reports the outcome of his investigations to the Committee on Standards and Privileges.
