Welcome to the website of the Commissioner for Standards. The Commissioner is an independent person appointed by the NI Assembly. His role is to carry out thorough, fair and transparent investigations into complaints about the behaviour of Ministers and MLAs in relation to their respective codes of conduct and to encourage and promote high ethical standards in public life.

If you want to make a complaint about the conduct of a Minister or an MLA, you must submit it in writing by email or by post (contact details available in footer).

The Commissioner can only deal with breaches that relate to the Northern Ireland Assembly Code of Conduct or the Ministerial Code of Conduct. He can’t investigate complaints that fall outside of these Codes.
